I understand that you have a concern about adding a printer through the HP Support Assistant. It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. If its not "detected" then you can't manually add it.

United States HP Worldwide. There is suppoort pathway to get support for a device that is not "detected and added". Looking at how that is worded, it seems to me that is more of a function that could work on a case by case basis for some peripherals, and not yet fully functional.
